Bloomsburg Splits with Millersville in Baseball

MILLERSVILLE--The Bloomsburg University baseball team split a pair of games on Friday with Millersville University winning 7-4 in the opener before dropping the nightcap, 9-6.

In game one, Syril Kress (Littlestown/Littlestown) and Rob Watlock (Plains/Coughlin) each went 3-4 with Kress driving in two runs and Watlock one. Jeremy Eck (Williamsport/Montoursville) also went 1-4 with two RBI. Bloomsburg scored three runs in the fourth with two coming home on Eck's double, while Kress had RBI doubles in both the fifth and sixth innings.

Pitcher Casey Markey (York/Dallastown) earned his first win of the year by going the distance and striking out three.

In game two, the Huskies got two runs batted in from Watlock, while Kress, Vinnie James (Bristol/Bristol), Kevin Ward (Upper Darby/Msgn. Bonner) and Rich Letts (Parkesburg/Octara) each drove in one run.

After trailing early on, 4-1, Bloomsburg tied the game with three runs in the third. However, the Marauders scored five runs over the next three innings to open a 9-4 lead.

Bloomsburg, 10-29, 4-10 in the PSAC East, will host Millersville on Sunday at noon at Litwhiler Field.
